Cabaret Voltaire (Zürich)

The facade of the Cabaret Voltaire. The main hall at the Cabaret Voltaire.

I believe in mixing business with pleasure, but I am solidly against the combination of work and vacation. When I went to Zürich in January, Lisa’s parting words were, “Do some research.” I responded, “No, you,” and drove away, secretly vowing to not think about chocolate or our company for eight days.

As they say, “The best-laid plans often go awry.” Two days later, while meandering through the city’s cobbled streets, I found myself in front of the Cabaret Voltaire, the birthplace of the Dada Movement and the brick-and-mortar muse for our “Saturday Night at the Voltaire” chocolate bar. Standing in the hall where Hugo Ball and his partner Emmy Hennings worked and played, I realized that, when you love what you do, there is no separation between a job and a life.

We also a brand that believes in “Passion, Creativity, and Pleasure” and that is a 24/7 pursuit. It took a trip across the globe, and a pilgrimage to an historic bar, to remind myself how much I live that.

Stay tuned & eat some chocolate,
