At the age of 65, Beatrice Wood famously wrote to Steve Hoag, her ex-husband, that she wouldn't return from her vacation in Spain until she had "pinched every Spaniard" (she was back home three months later). Do we, at Beato Chocolates, endorse such behavior? As a small female-owned and run business without an established harassment policy, yes, we do. We believe in consensual pinching with established, mutually agreed upon, parameters. We also believe in diversity and inclusion. We believe that, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, or immigration status, everyone should enjoy a pinch.
When we were developing our Pinching Spaniards Chocolate Bar, we used marcona almonds to honor those in Spain who met Beatrice and then, we added smoked paprika for a bit of spice. Because, let’s be honest, how fun is a pinch without a bit of heat?
